@thatwelshmummy: I replaced the carpet in our rented home before telling the landlord 😬 Damage happened while we were living here, we tried to clean it, and in the end replacing it felt like the right thing to do. I’ve told the landlord now - but I’m curious… would you have done the same or handled it differently? #RentingLife #RealLifeHomes #MumLifeUK #PrivateRenting #HomeUpdates
They don’t like that cause renters keep spare carpet for fixing.

I remember when my mum has redecorate our renting house . Made it look way better and expensive. What did the landlord do ? Put the rent up because of better living standards 😄

My landlord knows we have a cat and we are replacing the carpets ourselves because the cat is being a cat but we told them it would take time to save up for it but we are being responsible for it

I’m a landlord and it wouldn’t bother me as long as it is ok when the tenant left 👍

I think most landlords would be ok with this as it is (indirectly) yourself that caused the damage, I think it would be your responsibility to fix it. I also rent and am able to decorate the flat & have been able to do changes to garden (I’ve just checked with them before I’ve started)

If I was a landlord as long as you don’t ask for money back from the landlord then so be it

Sounds like the new carpet is better than the old one, but if that had been a new/ newish carpet then you would have needed to make sure the replacement was of similar quality.
This is also one reason as a Landlord I don't agree with the new change that tenants are allowed to keep pets eithout consent. Sorry kitties 😜

Fairplay to you, cats are much better off being looked after in their own homes they're extremely sensitive animals

I might have ran it by the rental manager or landlord first if possible and just to ensure it wouldn’t effect the bond
