Yall never been in stressful or traumatic situations. Just as we do in the military, we use dark jokes and humor to cope with it. I don’t see yall lighting up the Army ranger who took the severed arm of an insurgent and went around high fiveing his teammates with it about they blew up the guy that a hand grenade. At the end of the day when this man is alone with his own thoughts and he know the loss that occurred here. But in this moment he needs that coping mechanism to keep his mind on his duty. Until you experience this you’ll never understand. i feel bad for this guy. He’s trying to keep a level head and yall are shaming him for it.

the hardest part for me is, being in law enforcement, but also being a progressive citizen, is understanding the dark humor you need to have for that line of work to try to stay sane, but having the compassion for a regular citizen losing their life at negligence, and the ignorant jokes.
