4 bumps under red peppers means female and they are sweeter. 3 bumps and they're male, slightly less sweet.

What’s the Supreme Court say about this male & female pepper thing? Maybe just be happy no one said peppers could identify as carrots! Hahaha

Nope there are no male and females. The bumps under the pepper signify best for cooking and best for eating.

You’re great. It’s about cooking. Keep that up. Except I’m seeing a lot of videos where you’re talking and less videos of when you’re cooking has that changed?

There are no male and female. I grow peppers and my green ones turn red or orange or yellow depending on the variety. The flavour definitely sweetens.

Really like your videos, you have the best tips. Well, I hear about 4 parts female, 3 male and females suppose to be sweeter… but to be fair didn’t notice much difference. There might be.., I just chop them up and use them up same way. Gender neutral… About colours didnt say anything, figured there will be others that are bothered with it. But since it’s brought up… I mean in a way you’re right and red peppers will go through some stages of yellow or orange in some levels before reaching end colours, but yellow and orange ones that sold in supermarkets are already at their colour, only thing will change they can get deeper shade of yellow or orange before they rot.,. But will never become red. Green ones though a mystery pepper. It can end up being ether one of them. If not cooked straight away will get lighter green then colour will start to develop. So if don’t like the taste can wait a little. (Can still rot before ripening)I do agree red ones are sweeter then orange or yellow. There is also even sweeter red pepper that is nice in salads. Don’t know if have in America, it’s thin and long one, those I could just bite into they’re so nice. Wouldn’t waste those on cooking with them tho they 2x the price for amount you get. Like pack of 3 regular ones same price if not less what is pack of 2 sweet ones and they not as big so it’s like 1 1/2 regular pepper in a pack.

There are no actual male or female peppers, it's a common myth; peppers grow from "perfect" flowers with both male and female parts, but the number of bumps (lobes) on the bottom is sometimes used as a guideline for eating, though it's not about gender: 3-lobed peppers are thought to be less seedy (male, for cooking), while 4-lobed peppers are sweeter and seedier (female, for raw eating), but variety and ripeness are the real factors.

I always pick the peppers depending on what I'm using them for. 3 bumps EAT 4 bumps cook. not sure if that's right but that's what I was taught a long time ago. Thank you for your heart content ♥️

I don't care if they're male or female either. I will say I prefer making my stuffed peppers with red sweet bell peppers. It must be red. can you make a video showing how you cook stuffed peppers? It is one of our favorite dishes. Thanks chef and keep up the great work!!!!
