I’m new to fermenting and I just fermented carrots I did coleslaw too or sauerkraut. The sauerkraut turned out great! However, the carrots are bitter. Is that because maybe the carrots themselves were bitter???

You answered a seven year question I had… when my father passed away, I found these glass hockey pucks, the only way I can explain it, and I did not know what they were for so when you showed me your glass weights, I went down the rabbit hole and I found one’s just like my father’s on the Internet. My dad used to do a lot of sauerkraut and other fermenting.😊

I used to make carrots with ginger and garlic and mustard seed. Really good but you need to keep skimming the bubbles or you get Kahm right away. And don’t peel them
