I told this guy I met “I’m not ready.“ My husband had passed. That guy is now my husband. He would not accept my “I’m not ready” and he persisted for three months before I finally said I’d be his girlfriend. And he’s been there for be through ALL my lows. I’m glad he didn’t need me to be ready and wanted to be by my side through the healing. I didn’t think I was ready because I didn’t think anyone would be willing to go through this with me.

A person is never completely finished, never fully healed. That is what life is about: gaining experience. We carry our baggage from the past with us. Perhaps the point is that if strong emotions still tie us to an ex partner, we should not torment someone else by using them as a healing accessory.

I told a woman I wasn’t ready after a 10 year relationship. Literally fresh out the relationship. And that woman used that against me down the line when I wasn’t matching her emotional pacing.

After a 6.5 yr relationship I didn’t know if I was ready, then I met a new girl that made me feel butterflies in my stomach again, something I hadn’t felt in a long time. I decided to just go with the flow and I ended up all the way down stream with this girl. It ultimately didn’t work out but I don’t regret a second of it. It was a beautiful experience. someone told me shake it off and stand back up, like riding a bike as long as youre not using that past against then other person. Depends on the severity of the split and length of the partnership.
