@pedestriansport: Fans are calling this the most controversial call of time. Bills receiver Brandon Cooks makes a catch and his knee hits the ground, and Broncos’ Ja’Quan McMillian comes up with the ball. Is it Bills ball or Broncos ball? 👇 (via cbs, rate_the_refs on X) #nfl #denverbroncos #buffalobills #nflmemes
Db had a hand in there and therefore the receiver never had full control of the football even tho he was down

The NFL rule applied to the Brandin Cooks interception call in the Broncos-Bills game states a receiver must maintain complete control of the ball throughout the entire process of the catch, including contact with the ground; since Cooks lost control as he hit the turf and the ball went immediately to Broncos cornerback Ja'Quan McMillian, it was ruled an interception, not a completed catch, because the defender gained possession of the live ball before it hit the ground.

You have to survive the ground in the process of making the catch, their momentum is part of that process cause when cooks back hits the ground the ball pops out and if the defender wasn’t there it’s still incomplete in that scenario but since it bounced right into the defenders hand that is a clear interception

See when two people catch a ball prior to the receiver going down, they now both get equal rights to maintain and survive the ground. If this would have come to a stop and both the offense and defense still holding onto the ball, then it would have been a catch, however the receiver didn’t maintain control as the defender did a better job of surviving the ground and ripped it out of his weak hands which makes it an interception.

didn't have control of the ball when he touch the ground. also like sharp said if he had caught the he would of been the one handing the ball off to the ref for the next play

He has to secure the ball which you can clearly see from this angle he never did

Watch the play in real time. Pretend the Denver player is not there at all. If cooks dropped the ball on the turf in that time no football move then it’s ruled incomplete

not a bad call both people had possession and if was for 10 seconds it would go to offense but since they go down with the ball together both has possession and mcmillian comes up with It and get out with it it's an interception
