In Georgia, I had to file legitimation paperwork after my kids were born because I was not married to their dad, my now husband at the time. Even though he was on the birth certificate he had absolutely no legal rights. If something had happened to me before the paperwork was filed, custody would have gone to my mother.

remember kids, when seeking any type of custody always ask for enforcement. this allows the police to interfere if you need to call them. if you do not they will tell you it's a civil matter and walk away.

In most states police won’t even get involved if a parent takes a child even without being on a birth certificate they will say it’s a civil matter and to call a lawyer

In Ohio if they are not married when the baby is born then the mom has all rights till they go to court. I went through it with both of my kids donors when they were born. But now my son will be 16 and my daughter is 11 and they haven’t seen neither one of their dads since they were 1

That’s not true she does not have full custody. They have 50-50 with no court order each parent has the right to the child.

The police make the report to DCF and as long as your on birth certificate your legal to have the child as long as there is no custody agreement! Went through this myself!
