A car crash had happened on GA 15 in Grandis Heights. He pulled up and saw a 2018 Toyota Camry smashed against the guardrail. Witnesses said the driver hit around 120 mph. Airbags had popped. Debris littered the road. He first talked to a passenger. Then he met the driver, 20-year-old Augusta Naggie. While chatting with her, he smelled alcohol. He spotted clear signs she was impaired. Augusta confessed she drank that day. She even mentioned a DUI arrest two years back. He suspected drunk driving. So he asked her to do field sobriety tests. First came the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus check. Next was the Walk and Turn. She missed heel-to-toe steps. Her turn was off too. Then the One Leg Stand. She didn't lift her foot right. Her counting went wrong. They offered a PBT breath test. It read 0.25% BAC. The crash, alcohol smell, witness accounts, and her failed tests led to arrest for DUI. A car search found open booze containers. Deputy Trammell read her Georgia’s Implied Consent Notice. She agreed to breath tests. They took her to Habersham County Detention Center. Her final breath showed 0.156% BAC—twice the 0.08% limit for those over 21. She posted $4,787.50 bond and left.
