@missy23232: Using AI to rewrite your resume for a job description often creates a watered-down, generic document. Hiring managers can spot AI-generated resumes quickly, and it hurts your chances. Clarity and real impact still matter more than keywords. #TikTokCreatorSearchInsightsIncentive #careertok #resumetips #careeradvice #LearnItOnTikTok
But yet we have to have key words to get past the AI resume reader or our application gets rejected. It’s so frustrating & exhausting.

I am a hiring manager and I WANT applicants to use AI. I also want them to know HOW to use AI. I can tell when u let AI fully write it and didn’t review or update. I don’t want those. But I want applicants to be tech savvy and resourceful. Let’s work smarter not harder. AI isn’t going anywhere. My teams all have to learn how to build and prompt at a minimum. So it’s a plus when I see a candidate already doing it.

This is my area as well, I dont care if anyone is using AI. There is no difference than hiring a professional resume writer. The only thing I care about is that its all TRUE.

Im a candidate who has applied to 75+ jobs in 4 months and HR/hiring managers rely on AI to filter resumes, which means they are not truly looking at resumes and reading them to qualify candidates (which I understand for times sake), however, its extremely frustrating as a candidate because you have to have similar keywords for your resume/application to be pulled to match their standards

I respect your perspective. Most of us a fed up with recruiters. The monster was created when scanning resumes for keywords and automatically rejecting.

Love your commentary BUT, in this instance, what is the avg person supposed to do to get noticed 🤷🏾♂️. Recruiters are using AI to gate keep. I think the cues have to be subtle

I disagree about getting rejected just because you use AI for your resume. Recruiters use AI to screen. Why wouldn’t candidates also use AI to help them get an initial interview? That’s literally the point. At the end of the day, interviewing well, timing, and fit are still the ultimate decision makers for hiring managers.

it’s a zero sum game. There’s no way to get in front of the hiring manager where we can tell our story, because AI (ats) is closing that door, and the way to open it is by using AI. Stop using AI to filter candidates, and we’ll stop using AI to fix our resumes. Is not that we don’t have the experience for the position, is that we’re forced to play a game we don’t even want to play, and are penalized for it.

How about dropping the job description applying for into AI, and then asking it to closely align your existing resume to the job description? This way you’re not asking it to create a resume from scratch.

The only time I ever hear back is when AI optimized my resumes and takes my existing experience and tailors it to a job. This is not true. Also, why does it matter that hiring managers “know”. When people on the job are being encouraged to use AI. Respectfully, this is a hard no.

I’m following you on LinkedIn. No matter what I do I am getting rejected. I lost my job because I was going through treatment for cancer and fighting for my life. I need a job and want to work from home.

Employers uses AI across talent acquisition, from ATS to digital assessment like HireVue, yet penalize candidates for using it to add in a couple of verbs and adjectives.

Is there a difference of having AI wrote your resume or paying a lot of money for a resume writer to write it? I paid a resume writer and they used all the keywords and stuff to get passed the ATS software that majority of the companies use.

I don’t use white font keywords. I do run my resume through a key word tracker. Of the key words that are not in my resume, I pick the ones that I legitimately can say I’ve done. I target 60-70% coverage. That’s it. I think what I am doing is having an impact. I’ve been contacted by 6 or 7 recruiters since Dec, I have 2 interviews this week. Wish me luck. Please tell employers to adjust their algorithms and send rejection letters within 3 days. People will learn.

While I understand what you are saying, the issue unfortunately is the ATS. I can tell you those value driven statements and my story, however, ATS seems to throw everything out if we dont have those specific keywords in certain areas. Personally I wish the ATS didnt exist for resumes.

The recruiters are not seeing resumes if they don’t pass ATS. What do you recommend then?
