@yamadaa_a: $4.21 “Luxury” Dinner in Tokyo — The Life of a 23-Year-Old Salaryman with Famichiki & Strong Zero [PART 1] #salaryman #lonely #workinginjapan #fyp
Problem with Japan is your wages have not increased since 1990s meanwhile the burden of healthcare, pension, and other taxes before rent/mortgage is killing the youth with very low income

Currently visiting Japan for the first time (having a blast!), but I often think about what life would be like from the perspective of a local. I agree with you that no one looks happy unfortunately. Thanks for sharing, hang in there bud

Thank you for your insight. It's very educational. When you see those happy tourists in Shibuya, well, I was one of them, I saved years and years for my dream of a lifetime: a trip to Japan..also by working long hours and working hard. Maybe knowing this might be some consolation. Maybe one day you will be a happy tourist smiling at the other end of the world. I wish you all the best and well done.

this is such a poignant view into the reality of working in Japan. i have not worked or visited Japan, but I worked for a Japanese company in my country. the expat Japanese had such a hard time adjusting to not doing overtime everyday. and yes, most of them worked for that company straight out of college. and yes, many meetings and slow decision making. 😓

Visited Japan from New York, very used to the fast pace but noticed people looked like they had to wear a mask. Everyone looks tired and there’s too many social rules to abide by. I like the food but that’s about it.

It's insane how you make less than a McDonald's worker here in Spain (minimum wage is about 1100€/month, ~¥200k) while having worse conditions
Hang in there man

I visited Japan late December into early January. While I loved the food, the culture and the sight seeing it took speaking to locals to comprehend a different side of life there that many of us tourists take for granted. They spoke to me about the struggle of inflation and the societal demands, the lack of self expression and the rising rates of depression. It really changed my perspective.

remember to keep your sense of self. you said that people tend to only become their job. but in this video, you showed us little parts of yourself that are still intact

i think your introspection and way of storytelling is both incredibly realistic and poetic. our rent amounts are about the same, and i typically have about the same left over after all is said and done. work should just be a means to live, not what we live for.

Thank you for sharing this perspective. You have a talent for storytelling- you do exist and have an identity outside of your job. Don’t forget that.

You have lots of skill being able to make engaging videos with an excellent story, all in a foreign language. If you post these to YouTube and find some way to monetize your videos, I’m sure the extra cash would help lift you up

頑張れ!I say this with kindness, you’ve got many years of work ahead, so don’t stay in a job that makes you unhappy. Make and save what you can and find something that has a better work/life balance!
