Matt Damon also just did an interview where he describes how streaming/Netflix has changed writing so that you reiterate the plot over and over cuz everyone’s on their phones 😭💀💀

Tate Ball :
They commented that Netflix wanted this done at least five times during the movie for the audience that were too involved in their phones while watching the movie to get the point/premise. They hated it too.

It was annoying how many times they say “the rip”.

Not from a specific movie but any time someone says, “…after all, you’re my [brother/cousin/nephew/whatever]” to establish the relationship between characters.

We all watch movies with different lenses, those who watched this to enjoy it enjoyed it & those who watched it as critics found things to criticize

The ride in the back of the tank where Damon and Affleck lay out the whole movie for us was terrible

The story itself had so much potential, but it was ruined in the dialogue and the directing

what I don't understand is, so what if we're on our phones? isn't that what the rewind feature is for? I hate when companies don't respect the intelligence of their audience. and this is supposed to be a thriller. meaning whoever is watching this, knows this is the kind of movie where you need to pay attention so you can catch details you'd otherwise miss. like don't dumb it down. I'd watch a Jason Statham movie if I wanted simple, fun, predictable plot.

With Matt Damon and Ben Afleck Being involved, I was expecting a good movie, instead I got a typical Netflix movie. The plot twist was so forced, and focused on fooling the audience, instead of driving the story. I felt like I was cheated out of 2 hours of my life

I also thought this was incredibly weird lol. It was almost like the DEA guy was a narrator with god-like knowledge and not a character in the story.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon talk about this. They didn’t even like doing it that way, but that’s what Netflix wanted. So if that’s going to be the new norm it’s like you also gotta give grace as a film, reviewer or critic. If anything call out Netflix or whatever platform that wants them to do it this way now.
