One thing about raising teenagers, connection starts to look different as they get older. They don’t necessarily need us in all the same ways they did when they were little, but that doesn’t mean they need our presence any less. Sometimes staying connected is simply doing life together. Running errands. Riding in the car. Laughing about something completely random. Listening when they decide they want to talk. I’ve learned not to force every moment to be meaningful. Sometimes just being present consistently creates the space for meaningful moments to happen naturally. Because raising children isn’t only about preparing them for adulthood. It’s also about building a relationship with them that you both still WANT when they get there.👌🏾 Parents of teens and young adults: What’s one thing you do to stay connected as your children get older? 👇🏾
