Sometimes but I would consider those people “lukewarm atheists”, they really havent introspected enough and examined their beliefs and how to act. Also atheism and nihilism are very different things.

you’re sort of generalizing all atheists to have no morality or ethical code whatsoever. personally i value my and others lives extremely highly partly because i do believe it’s our only life. atheism definitely does not equate to nihilism and on the flip side theistic people carry ethics that they didn’t even come up with themselves and also carry bigotry and prejudice due to their religion.
