There’s a smell from bath & Body Works Aromatherapy lotion line from back in the 2010’s I was obsessed w/ & it made men FLOCK to me. I always smell their new stuff hoping they’d recycle it under a new name but no. I think it was black currant & vanilla. Do u think I could learn to make it myself?

Tik tok has decided I need perfume content so I’ve recently been buying lots of samples and I’m having such a hard time! There are so many scents that smell like ammonia to me. Sometimes it’s in the initial smell and sometimes in the dry down. Is there one ingredient or note that smells like ammonia to some noses?

I think there’s a number of angles to take on how you think about natural/synthetic - the one that stands out to me is that naturals are more likely to trigger allergies. And if you’re like me and know a specific scent compound is an allergen (geraniol and I have PROBLEMS), synthetic ingredient lists help me protect myself. With naturals, I have to know all the plants that have geraniol in them.

I cringe every time I hear the word synthetics because the natural skincare world has demonized it so much. Synthetics are so much better for allergies, longevity, performance, and chemical makeup. And they are always consistent. As a soapmaker, I have smelled thousands of fragrances (both natural and synthetic) and I almost always choose the synthetic. Wish the natural scents held up at all 😂 And I wasn’t allergic to several of them.

How does he feel about ALT fragrances? They seem to have so much more perfume oil than others? Or Fulton and Rourke perfume? I know F&R is way more expensive bc it has a crazy amt of oil in the fragrance. What’s y’all opinion on those two brands?
