Ppl who say "Japanese ppl in bigger citys speak english" are liars. don't listen to them xD just learn a few japanese basics and you will get along very fine! also Google translate / Google Image translate also exists

my friend and i went to japan for 2 weeks (she only spoke fluent not me, i knew 0) and i got around just fine. almost always in big cities people spoke some english, and even in smaller towns/the countryside ppl still knew english it was shocking😭 we pretty much went to all parts of the country and it was super clean everywhere, i had no struggle

I think if you just learn some basic Japanese, especially phrases you'll be likely to use in situations that fit your trip, you will be fine. A lot of Japanese people also speak English.

Ok I went to Japan and we are planning another trip sometime. And basically everyone who is a tourist says u must know jappense. We didn't, except I learned how to say thank u so much. And at Disney the shop workers thought I was soooo cute and loved it. And we met some locals and used google translate and thought it was so cool.
