I did some stuff that I regret to this day when I was 7 or 8 years old. I thought that's how you showed love because of the scenes in movies I watched, plus my mom and dad weren't too discreet. I wonder if he ever thinks of me as his abuser, it haunts me.

The most disheartening thing is to be told “that’s why we don’t do sleepovers” when I speak about my cosca experience; it was a family member visiting my house. There was no sleepover to begin with 😔 (Good on all the parents maintaining boundaries for their children regardless)

Stop introducing them to sexual situations. Dont give them tablets, your phone etc etc. they do not need that sh*t. Parents don’t either. We need to get off our devices. Take care of ourselves and our babies.

People really say my kids can’t go to their house if they have a brother or dad. Meanwhile TONS of my cases are from female -female sleepovers.

it’s not just sleepovers yall, it’s family too. my brother did it to me. you have to talk to your kids about this stuff and make sure they understand that it’s wrong and to come tell you if something happens

This is why I prefer play areas in the main living area. When we have friends or family over no one is in bedrooms.

this is such a sad statistic. sleepovers were such a big part of my childhood. I'm sad for the world my own kids are growing up in. this shouldn't be a thing 😭😭

Everyone says no sleepovers. But then people in the comments saying it happens between siblings of both genders. So what do you do? What if kids have to share a room?

I experienced COCSA from a few different individuals growing up, I think because after the first I thought it was normal. Finally as an adult I've realized the amount of trauma I endured... but I will say only once did it happen at a sleepover. So its not always the sleepovers. it's the playmates, the closed bedroom doors, in the playground where people can't see.. it can be in plain sight too..

Parents need to stop expecting their older children to be the babysitters of the younger with absolutely no observation. Especially in larger families.

I was a victim of this and I’m not mad at the person who did this because they likely learned that behavior but I am mad at the systems at play

Remember if a small child is doing this they don’t understand it’s bad and something is being done to them. Not an excuse, but something to remember

Some might think I’m wrong but I definitely believe those under 15-16 who “consent” to intimacy with gfs or bfs are part of it. They’re too young to really comprehend the risks involved

Also a major issue is parents won't talk to their kids about boundaries. Appropriate touching vs inappropriate, because they want their kids to be kids as long as they possibly can before having that talk. Its not ruining your kids childhood to talk to them at a younger age.
