It is the Mother Temple of Africa because it was the first to be constructed on the African Continent. It therefore serves as the Continental House of Worship for Africa. There are other two Temples constructed most recently in Africa. One is in Kenya - Matunda Soy, It is the first Local House of Worship to be Constructed in Africa. The other one is in Kinshasa in DRC. It is the first National House of Worship to be Constructed in Africa. That brings the total of the Baha'i Temples in Africa to three. The Temple is located on Kikaaya Hill in a neighborhood called Kikaaya.
