We don't gatekeep recipes round these parts 🤠 Here's my full sugar cookie recipe and how I make them, so you too can have soft and chewy sugar cookies that hold their shape. My royal icing recipe is pinned to my page, so check that out too! SUGAR COOKIE RECIPE Ingredients: 3 cups all purpose flour 2 tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt 1 cup (2 sticks) cold unsalted butter 1 cup granulated sugar 1 egg 1 tsp vanilla extract Directions: -In a separate bowl from your mixer, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk well and set aside. -In the bowl of your mixer, add in the cold butter and sugar. Cream together on medium speed until it's just lightened in color and beginning to stick to the sides of your bowl, about 3 minutes. -Scrape down the sides of the bowl and add in the egg and vanilla extract. Mix on low until ingredients are combined. -With your mixer still on low, add in flour mixture one scoop at a time, letting the ingredients come together each time before adding more. Continue mixing on low until all of the flour has been mixed into the dough. Try not to overmix! Once finished, your dough should have a play-dough like consistency and not stick to your fingers at all. -If baking right away, preheat oven to 350°F. -Roll out the dough to your desired thickness and cut out your cookies. Place them evenly spaced on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until they're no longer shiney on top. I reccomend freezing or chilling your dough before baking to make sure the butter stays nice and cold. Personally I'm a bit extra, so I freeze my rollouts, and then to be safe I freeze my cutouts too since the dough warms as it gets worked with. Whatever amount of freezing/chilling you find acceptable, do that! If you're making dough to bake at a later date, you can wrap it up and store in an airtight container in your freezer for 3-6 months. Disclaimer: results may vary based on things such as ingredient quality, environmental factors in your kitchen, and your oven temperature. Experiment and adapt this recipe however you need to! . . . #sugarcookies #cookiedecorating #Recipe #cookierecipe #baking
