Coal isn’t the only fuel source. There’s oil, wood, and even propane.

Water is sprayed on coal during transport primarily to suppress dust and prevent spontaneous combustion. Coal dust is hazardous to health and the environment, and spraying water binds the particles to reduce airborne pollution and protect nearby communities. This practice also prevents spontaneous combustion, which occurs when friction between coal pieces generates heat, potentially igniting the coal. Water cools the coal and reduces the risk of self-ignition, especially in high-moisture or volatile coals like lignite and bituminous. The water is applied carefully to maintain an optimal moisture level of 6–8%, avoiding excess that could reduce coal quality. Spraying also stabilizes coal piles, prevents erosion, and reduces material loss during transit. In some cases, chemical additives are mixed with water to enhance dust control and moisture retention. While water may seem to dampen coal, it evaporates by the time the coal reaches its destination, leavingp no impact on its heating value. This method has been used since the 1920s and remains a standard practice in the coal industry. Overall, water spraying ensures safer, cleaner, and more efficient coal transport.

вместо очевидного любому человеку лучше бы рассказал почему хотя бы часть пара не конденсировали обратно в воду, охлаждающего воздуха хватило бы чтобы конденсировать большую часть пара.
