Let me explain these: 1. Pre dipping the tongs makes it a little easier to clean up the marks they leave - it doesn’t prevent them it just makes it a bit easier. It works better with some glazes than others. 2. Count or time the dip so that you can repeat the results or adjust them or at the very least so that what you do is informed by your previous test tiles or pots. 3. Waxing the bottoms - not everyone loves this, you don’t have to do it, you can just use a sponge - I do it because I like the cleanness of the lines and the sponging is quicker. 4. Shaking off the drips means you get a cleaner finish on the final glaze - especially important if you’re going to layer another glaze over the top. 5. I didn’t do it in this video because I was filming it but if you put the pot down as quickly as possible after you’ve glazed it the tong marks are less of an issue because the glaze still has time to move into the gaps. Bonus tip: big sponges are better than little sponges. #pottery #ceramics
