@nesufutravels: made pink by salt-tolerant algae that produce beta-carotene (same pigments in carrots), coloring the water and creating breathtaking pink hues, especially vibrant in the shallow, hypersaline evaporation ponds that attract flamingos 🦩 (we saw thousands). These lakes are a major salt producer for Africa and it’s such a contrast with the surrounding Namib Desert.
