Memorial Day is to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. My husband Staff Sergeant Tyler Rogenski honorably served our country, and made the ultimate sacrifice. I remember the day Tyler sewed on Airman. I watched him on stage, smiling ear to ear. I watched my husband excel all the way to sewing on Staff Sergeant. There won’t be another airman as dedicated as Tyler. As smart, innovative, dependable, brave.. almost fearless. I always looked at Tyler with such loving eyes, and would soak in the boundless feeling of “home” in his presence. He made me feel like everything would be okay. I believed it. I still try to. But the halls of our home that once echoed with laughter now sit in silence. This Memorial Day, I take a moments silence for my husband. For all of the brave souls who served this country and did not come home, or could no longer bear the burden to carry. For all of my friends that I served with who are no longer here. “How can something be there, and then not be there?” I myself joined the Air Force with wide eyes and an open heart. I never thought when I joined, and looked around, that the faces I saw would become painful thorns in a rose bush of loss. That my darling, lovely husband would be a part of it too. That I, on Memorial Day, would be mourning my own husband. Enough sunrises have come that I have accepted this is not a dream. As much as my body needs oxygen to breathe, I wish to open my eyes to Tyler. Please join me in taking a moment of silence for Tyler, and all of those that have fallen. 🇺🇸 #memorialday #suicideprevention
