My uncle passed away at 67. He was found lifeless from a heart attack in his back yard November 30th after repeated phone calls and texts went unanswered. He was the backbone of our family, the man who showed up every time, no questions asked, and he has helped us all during every struggle. He was the kind of person you don’t just lose… you feel the absence of for the rest of your life. The part that hits the hardest is this: I wanted him to read my book more than anything. He was a sci-fi horror fan himself. We loved the same types of movies and shows. After working on this story the past few years, I was looking forward to handing him a copy and saying, “Guess what! I finally finished it. It’s finally done!” But I had a few revisions I wanted to make after my first test prints arrived. After making the small tweaks to my manuscript I resubmitted my book. It was in ‘pending release’ status…..the release came a few days too late. I’m so sorry Jay! Hindsight 20/20- I wish I would have just given you the ‘imperfect’ copy so you could have had the chance to read it. I’ve been sick to my stomach but holding myself together to be there for the family. My mother and aunt (the big 3, now minus 1) have taken it the hardest. It happened so unexpectedly and out of nowhere… it feels surreal… So now I’ve made a promise. I’m going to push this story shamelessly until the world sees it. I’m going to carry your name and memory with me into every victory. And I’m never stopping because you never stopped believing in me. This is my mission. This is for you, Uncle Jay. Rest easy. I’ll take it from here. #fyp #scifi #books #storytime #fantasy
