King James didn’t commission a new translation because he wanted to get a Bible to everyone. Rather he was trying to unite the people of England by giving them a translation that everyone could enjoy but that also support the Church of England and the crown. At this point the Church of England was using the Bishop’ Bible that was falling out of popularity because of the Geneva Bible. Problem was the Geneva Bible had study notes that went against the crown and the structure of the Church of England. So James’ solution for this was to make a new translation similar to the Geneva Bible but supported his view of government and church structure. There is a reason why terms like bishop is used the KJV. It was chosen to make it seem like the Church of England was right.

Yes, I think people get so upset over these verses and yes I do agree, all the Bible’s shouldn’t leave things out etc but realistically speaking, we have to give the translators Grace and Mercy because they are translating from Greek, Hebrew, and I think Arabic. I definitely know a lot of like the Old Testament was written in either Greek or Hebrew and then the new text was written opposite. Regardless of what language it’s hard. The Bible is still true. And now, knowing that they were trying to hurry and get out the Bible for EVERYONE makes even more sense. So it’s totally understandable. And yes, definitely look because we want to know EVERYTHING that is in the Bible. That’s why I use different translations when I do Bible studies etc

thank you for speaking on this! 👏 Had to write a paper on it in my master’s program but I’m so bad at actually explaining these things 😂 Can We Still Believe the Bible by Craig Blomberg touches on stuff like this really well too

The problem lies with “Who were the translators’’ who translated the scriptures from its original languages.
