on a serious note, sometimes you don't get any kind of real guidance from your peers or superiors. I lost my mom around 3 months into being in the fleet, and no one gave me any guidance. No one tried to mentor me, check on me, nothing. I lost my way because of it, and my career goals tanked from being so lost. Lead to me having a drinking problem and going from decent shape to poor shape. Don't be afraid to ask for guidance, from multiple sources, because someone will care enough that you're reaching out.

Feeling disconnected from the real world. I thought I’d like being away from the circus and took time at an Independent Duty Station to get me a few years to transition out, even took up a part time job. I didn’t realize how much I no longer relate to anyone outside of the military and get irritated very easily with people. Now I’m staying in lol
