@silencemedical_pllc: Starting a GLP-1 medication like semaglutide (Wegovy, Ozempic) or tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound) is a powerful step toward better metabolic health—but the first 1–2 days after your injection are when side effects are most likely to appear. That’s not random. GLP-1 medications reach peak blood concentration (C-max) about 8–72 hours after injection. This is when activity is highest in the brain and gastrointestinal tract, and when patients most often report nausea, fatigue, headache, reflux, constipation, or GI upset. Instead of reacting to symptoms, a proactive 48-hour plan can significantly improve tolerability. Injection Day: • Take your injection in the evening, allowing the initial peak to occur during sleep • Pre-hydrate with 16–24 oz of water + a low-sugar electrolyte (GLP-1s blunt thirst signals) • Eat a low-fat, easily digestible meal with lean protein + soluble fiber – Avoid fried foods, spicy meals, carbonated drinks, and raw/insoluble fiber – Think: chicken, cooked squash or zucchini, white rice Days 1–2 Post-Injection: • Eat small, frequent meals (5–6 mini meals vs 3 large meals) • Prioritize lean, gentle protein (egg whites, Greek yogurt, protein shakes, white fish, chicken) • Stay well-hydrated to reduce nausea, fatigue, and constipation • Use ginger for nausea This is a predictable—and preventable—pattern. Planning ahead for just 48 hours can make a meaningful difference in comfort, consistency, and long-term success on GLP-1 therapy. My daughter & I just started on Semaglutide & had our first injection yesterday. Our provider started us on 12.5 units. She wanted us to start lower becuz we said we get nauseous easily & want to avoid problems. Is 12.5 units super low? What’s an average dose? If this is super low, will we not lose any weight the first month? Thanks.

Moving up to 5mg next week. Haven’t have any unpleasant symptoms and I’m down 15 lbs in 7 weeks. I eat extremely well and drink lots of water. I also workout 5x a week. I’m trying to prepare for my increase in dose and I knew this already but that’s for the reaffirmation !
