This sounds like a taxing problem not an income problem. More importantly explain to me if the salary of the nurses in nyc after taxes etc leaves them broke what about the person who greets people at the front desk and the security person and the person who carries food to patients rooms and the person who cleans the floors and the person who cleans the beds and the person who receives goods delivered to the hospital etc.

Retired nurses here, I left New York State in 2002, 2 years after I worked there for the south and to travel my last 5 years. The NYS taxes and energy bills KILLED my money!!!!

Think about the 90% of people who work just as hard and are just as important to society and don’t make nearly that much. So yes with that in mind nurses are grossly overpaid for their roles in society. Not saying it’s not important but I’d argue a teacher is more important than a nurse period
