The true problem here is that she won’t talk about it. It sounds like he’s approaching this in a really genuine way, she needs to meet him in the middle and just talk about it.

I can't imagine being consumed by trauma, then having vaginismus THEN going through enough pain for long enough I'm diagnosed with bone cancer of the pelvis and legs and my husband doesn't leave but spends 24 years complaining about not having sex.... I can't imagine living in that bodily hell every day and having to constantly hear a man winge about sex... I'd be done talking about it to and I'd wish he'd just leave. if it's that big of a deal he can figure out sex with someone else but she's already gone. She doesn't see in him a man that puts her first she sees guilt and his needs always being more important, she's gone. he can find sex somewhere else but there isn't a scenario where they stay together either way she will resent him more every day

I feel bad for both of them. What a mess 🥺 Her chronic pain and neuropathy have taken a toll, understandably but he really needs comfort and affection.

She already feels like her body has betrayed her, and she feels that every opportunity for being a loving and feminine presence in her husband‘s life has been stolen from her, and him bringing it up is just punctuating all of her fears. If he treats her with respect, love, and kindness, And focuses on other things, she may warm up to him. But she has to feel safe. Challenging her when this is obviously painful emotionally is not a solution.

why are we commending the husband in these comments?? Trauma, medical reasons, etc as to why she doesn't want that but we're giving kudos to the man for sticking it out? This is why I hate our society's representation of relationships. Being in a relationship doesn't owe someone access to that person's body in any capacity. It's time to grow up and leave the cave men mentalities in the past. I know there are people who cling to physical, explicit, intimacy as a need for them but the answer to all of them is therapy. It can encourage more open communication and help all parties work through any issues - and potentially more to even an open marriage if it's such a huge deal breaker
