Why are we putting heating pads directly on the skin? This is crazy.

My back is permanently damaged like this from heat use. I can’t stop using heat though so I just have to live with it unfortunately

THIS HAPPENED TO ME! I slept with a heating pad for months straight because of intense cramps, and It left these exact marks. The marks on my top thighs have completely disappeared after 2 months, but I still have it under my belly button. I’m hoping it will eventually fade. 😞

not a rash, the skin is just discolored. I know this because I hurt my back 24 years ago and have used a heating pad for that long and yes my back looks like that

Also make sure you have a T-shirt on or something covering so it’s not directly on your skin

What about using a heating blanket on the lowest setting. Could that cause it or is it mostly from a constant high temperature?

I have a space heater in daughter room where she plays but its on a small dresser an seems to me a decent space away from her bed but sometimes she plays in the corner of the room by it, is that bad for her skin?

heating pad rash i have it because only heat helps my chronic pain...but with some treatments from my pain management doctor is doing i have been not having to use the heating pad as much.. also ice packs will help it lighten up.

So you talked about mild versus severe cases does this qualify severe or does they get worse?

I get it too. I do take breaks from my heat pad. But I get severe muscle spasms and I have to calm the muscles. I have hEDS and POTs. My cardiologist is aware of it and he said it’s super common with POTs. It’s abnormal blood pooling to the area. My heat pad goes off after an hour and I only turn it back on if I’m still hurting.

I also have this, but on my inner thigh, and I searched it up, this can cause skin cancer. It’s some skin discoloration thing. You either have to stop using the heating pad or put it on the lowest thing.😐…

Unfortunately with endometriosis, this is common on many of our bellies. Mostly because the healthcare system has failed us and throws ibuprofen/tylenol and hormone suppression at us that doesn’t necessarily do anything for many of us and this is the closest to relief we can get.

I have EDS and vascular issues in which I can’t take most medications for pain and I usually sleep with a heating pad. 🫠

I almost got denied an epidural because of my "toasted skin" and because of it they didnt administer it in enough time so it only worked on half my body.
