@thecountertruth: Insurance companies are creating barriers for chronic pain patients by forcing 7-day supplies and unrealistic prior authorizations, even when treatment is long-established. These are insurance rules, not opioid laws, and they delay care for patients who depend on stable therapy. #chronicpain #insurancebarriers #patientaccess #pharmacistadvocacy #healthcarepolicy
Interesting that they also don’t want to cover Journavx. That screams that insurance companies don’t give a hoot.

Yes! I keep having to put in “pt is not opioid naive” bc they’ve literally been on their pain meds for years…

Yes it happened to me which according to my pharmacist that would negate my 30 day script.

So not an opioid issue but last week my 11yo was having awful asthma attacks, after over a year of no attacks. The insurance refused to cover her RESCUE INHALER, saying it needed to be ordered via mail order. I literally held the phone up so they could hear her wheezing and insisted they document they were refusing an inhaler for a child who was literally struggling to breathe. Thank goodness I was able to pay out of pocket. There have been times in my life I wouldn’t have been able to. I shouldn’t have to-I ALREADY PAY FOR INSURANCE.

"Chronic pain patients are difficult." No, Susan, we are exhausted, exasperated, traumatized, disillusioned, and jaded.

My insurance company just denied my pain medication and they are not letting me pay out-of-pocket for it because they said it’s considered insurance fraud. This is in California. I have no idea if that’s even legal.

The fact that they don’t all allow us to override them with DUR codes or phone calls shows how little they value our expertise. I’d be the first one making calls if I got a dental rx for 30 days of oxy

Thank you for advocating for your patients. So often the patient blames the pharmacy when their frustration should be directed at their insurance.

I’m seeing doctors getting the rejects and not getting PAs approved. We use discount cards in order to make sure they can get their meds

Insurances are so criminal and abuse towards the patients who need these meds. Just awful. I feel bad for them and you guys having to deal with this.
