I think it should be allowed for people recording to send it to their trainers and/or to check their form. That being said, there should be a designated area for it and you’re not allowed to film anywhere else.

I agree to having a special area of the gym for "filming" but I think it should be banned 🚫 I've had a girl filming herself playing with herself next to me to get "my reaction"... yeah that should be considered indecent exposure.

I really want to open a gym specifically for filming and working out. like obviously anyone could work out there and don't have to film but it would be a place where filming is the norm

As long as you get consent from the people in your frame it’s fine imo. I don’t want to be in someone’s video bc if they do end up posting it somewhere, I don’t want to be picked apart for a video I was not in control of. It’s hard in my gym bc it’s so small, that if you set up to film yourself from the front on the squat rack, you’re literally filming half of the gym behind you.

there definitely need to be rules that are enforced at gyms when it comes to filming like there are for other things. there should be places and/or areas where its allowed to have the ring lights etc. but there should also be enforced film free times/areas too

As a beginner I’ll go and record myself for progress because especially if you start bigger it’s easy to just think that it’s hard and stays hard and you’re not getting better.. but I’ll take a look back at my beginning videos and go “damn I am getting better” 😅

i do weightlifting, i would be much worse if I couldn't record my snatch/clean/jerk/squat id be years behind where I am now. you want to ask or position the camera so youre the only one in it but "film your sets" is my first piece of advice to anyone who is worried abt form

im all for filming if its for a purpose or its you and a buddy just doing it for the love of the game but having a film crew? nah go rent a gym space or build your own.

My gym doesn’t allow filming and I’m glad because I hate that people film in gyms and often don’t blur out those in the background. Depending on how they’re filming it can also be distracting and they can be in the way when people are just trying to mind their business, so I’m glad my gym doesn’t allow that shit

As someone with EDS, I sometimes NEED to film myself lifting to make sure my form is correct to avoid serious injuries. My joints are really really weak, and if my form is off even slightly, I risk dislocation, breaks, and torn ligaments/tendons. That being said, I do think there are correct ways to film yourself, such as making sure no one else is in the shot/limiting the possibility of someone ending up in the shot as well as alerting those around you that you'll be filming, so they can avoid stepping into frame if they don't want to be filmed. It's all about respecting those around you, and if you can't do that, you should be banned from the gym in general.
