I know this is old but did you ever figure anything out? My toddler has had this cough over 2 weeks and they refuse to give me antibiotics because she has no fever 🙄

I SLATHERED my daughter’s feet in Vicks vaporub and put her socks. It’s the only thing that got us through these coughing spells. It was always worse when laying down so at bedtime I’d sneak in a put spoonfuls on her feet.

My son also had been coughing since September and has tested negative for everything and was prescribed allergy medication and some pills ruling seasonal allergies and honestly it has helped.

It's a chesty cough, so there's a lot of mucus in his throat and possibly his bronchial tubes. Is he having respiratory physiotherapy?

Might be croup but check for mold in your home too! My siblings had really bad asthma growing up and they cough like this for months after being sick or just randomly so maybe get that checked too

Humidifier get a thingie that tells you the humidity in the house they’re like $10. I bring mine up from 19% to 40% with a humidifier and it helps to break that up

Maybe see an allergist? My daughter has asthma and until we saw one and she was treated with a biologic, her lungs were constantly sick.

My son sounded like that(plus other symptoms) so they ended going in with a scope and found out he had a laryngeal cleft. It’s rare, so I’m not at all saying he has a cleft but maybe something down in his throat is irritated and the cough is not allowing it to fully heal. I know this is kind of late, so I hope he’s feeling better now. 🙂
