i spend $400-450 a month on groceries alone for me & my bf. we eat 2 meals a day & our snacks are fruits & yogurt. it’s not a habit issue, it’s a ‘things cost too much damn money’ issue

at the end of the day , it’s about the income to cost of living ratio . they don’t match 😂 if you didn’t have a space in life where you made money without paying bills , then you’ll forever live paycheck to paycheck. you damn near either gotta have a period where you don’t have to pay bills or have a high income paying job and live below your means

it's not always about habits tho you can't budget your way out of poverty. now there's plenty of ppl that make a lot of money that live paycheck to paycheck bc they bought the largest house that they could get approved for or they're choosing to go on extra vacations so that's what their money is going to and sure there's poor people that have bad spending habits like always having to buy the newest shoes to fit in but for the majority of ppl living paycheck to paycheck is about the money. our wages are stagnant have not kept up with inflation meanwhile housing costs have skyrocketed. in 2021 I was making close to the same amount of money I make now and things were going good bills were getting paid early I didn't have to triple check the bank account before going to the grocery store but then our housing costs went up by nearly 500$ a month and groceries went up

One thing I learned is when I eat out I dnt eat much. I save money. When I get groceries I over eat just because ik it’s there and then boom the food gone and im back at the store 😭 I save more money eating out.

It ends up being cheaper for me to eat out. Plus when you cook meals for only 2 people a lot of it ends up being wasted. Not spending isnt going to change the fact that I don’t make enough in order to make it past ends meet. THIS is why I’m in school to potentially better my life.

This isn’t the case anymore. The cost of living due to inflation increases and the minimum wage stagnates. There’s no way to save your way into financial security anymore. Currently, if you’re not investing and spreading your money into different investment avenues, you’ll be living paycheck to paycheck for the rest of your life. People aren’t earning enough to even save for emergencies. You can learn healthy habits but if you have no income to practice those habits on, it doesn’t matter.
