as much as i agree that you shouldn’t be harsh with your partner out in public, privately dealing with a situation where your partner is publicly bullying someone is not the way to go, you need to be open with your disagreement so you aren’t associated with that behavior

I don’t think people understand relationships vary, but there is an assumption that you KNOW the person you married. So him talking to her in private instead of publicly (in the beginning) was a CURTESY with the promise that she’d understand and be rational in stopping that behavior. That’s all it is. It’s not actually excusing anything because he’s actively TRUSTING that his wife is just making bad judgement calls and that to correcting her in private will work because he KNOWS her. Maybe I need to reword this for people who still don’t get this concept..
