Next time I’m gonna lie to my doctor. Because they are trying to get me to schedule an induction. I don't want one! I'm 40yrs birthing my 1st baby and I'm at 38+3 rn.

The 40 week due date comes from when the placenta typically starts needing monitored if you want to go past that time. Many women go past 40 weeks and have perfectly healthy babies! But it does require some extra monitoring to make sure amniotic fluid levels are good and the placenta is still doing its job! It often is safe to go to 41-42 weeks, but monitoring is key!

All for people deciding what is best for them and advocating for that. I do think it is important for your OB team to inform you of the risks of going past 40 weeks.

I’m g3p3 and somehow never went past 38 weeks with any of them. All the moms who go 40+ are literal rockstars I cannot imagine the discomfort.
