old rules made you pay before you cast. you needed to float the mana in the mana pool before casting. a lot of these problems came up cuz of that changr

Aiden :
A little mistake in the explanation. You said the spell is cast and then paid for with the Ironworks. However, Ironworks pays for the spell before it is cast.

“Being a mana ability allows you to sacrifice two objects somewhat simultaneously which lets their death triggers recur each other.” Is how I would word it. People can research the combo line if they wish.

“Those death triggers will trigger when those creatures are in the graveyard” yes, that happens literally every single time a death trigger happens. That is indeed normal. Did you mean to say something else?

I disagree that isnt a reading the card problem, thats a rules understanding problem

ngl, readingnthe card 100% explains that card, its clearly a mana ability and mana abilities not using the stack should be basic knowledge by now. brand new people learbing the game should be learning that mana abilities dont use the stack

I hate to say it but this needs to change. I get that we don’t want to mess with mana generation and all but like…. We gotta. In these specific instances only though because it’s a mess.

this only mattered when Scrap Trawler was in play; simultaneous sacrificing would let Trawler see itself AND everything else that was sacrificed, granting you an extra trigger.

Reading KCI does explain it though. It just can create niche scenarios due to the rules of mana sources.
Saying its complex would be like saying First Strike cards are complex because it doesn't explain how combat works.

Would this not also apply to other altars like ashnods?

I know i haven't played in forever, but I thought you added mana to your mana pool first, then you could cast a card. I dont understand a prerequisite of stating what you're going to do before you're able to do it.

So in terms of MCU movies, it allows you to have your Steve Rogers go back in time and live his life (GY) while leaving behind the the shield for Sam (2 mana)

this is useful for casting metal craft spells when you only have 3 artifacts but need to sac one for the mana to ironworks. announce the spell, it will see metal craft for whatever additional trigger, then in order to pay for the spell you sac one to ironworks. example, dispense justice.

You aren’t completely correct in everything you said, but perhaps you misspoke. The first step in casting a spell is putting it on the stack, so the creatures will hit the graveyard with whatever spell you cast already on the stack

Does this happen with other sac for mana activated ability cards like phyrexian altar?

So reading the card explains it, just not if you don’t know the rules to the game. Like any other card

doesn't seem that complex. combos like that have been going on for years.

I swear that half the issue with current MTG is that the rules don’t support it. Held the games I play devolve into arguments on how things work.
