I love the metaphor of blue paint and the meaning of ultramarine which means “ beyond the sea” it shows that their love goes beyond the wide vast of ocean even separated by war . In art, blue represents longing, yearning , melancholy & possibility, the depth of its color sees through vagueness. When that feeling passes through the prism of human experience, it becomes many emotional colors. Like Kit and Lili blue may be their first emotional color but eventually refracts into the full scale of love, art, loss, growth, &connection .
