The Cypress Tree Tunnel is one of the most picturesque places to visit within Point Reyes National Seashore in California. ✨ The Cypress Tree Tunnel is an iconic, fairytale-like corridor of interlocking Monterey cypress trees located at 17400 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard within the Point Reyes National Seashore in Marin County, California. The Canopy: Planted around 1930, these signature Monterey cypress trees have grown to interlock their branches over a flat, paved walkway. The Endpoint: The 0.25-mile drive serves as a grand entry leading to the historic KPH RCA Coast Receiving Station, a striking white Art Deco facility that handled maritime radio and Morse code communications during the 20th century. Wildlife: The tunnel provides a premier shelter for vagrant migratory birds, drawing birdwatchers alongside photographers. Photography Tips. Golden Hours: Dawn and dusk offer soft, warm lighting through the trees. Golden Hours: Dawn and dusk offer soft, warm lighting through the trees. Light Rays: For the best chance of capturing dramatic sunbeams filtering through the branches, visit on a clear morning in October or November around 9:30 AM. Misty Vibe: Overcast or foggy mornings enhance the moody, "enchanted forest" aesthetic. Visiting Information Trail Type: A very flat, accessible, and easy 0.8-mile out-and-back paved walk that takes about 15 minutes to complete. How to Find It: There is no official roadside sign for the tunnel itself. Look for the sign marked "North District Operations Center" along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard to turn in. Parking: Strictly prohibited inside the tree tunnel itself. Visitors must pull completely off the main road to park on the dirt shoulder of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Connectivity: Cell service is non-existent in this area of the park; download offline maps before making the trip. Restrooms: No public facilities are at the tunnel; the closest restrooms are located at the nearby Estero Trailhead or North Beach.
