I can confidently say that if she had found a way to not have her leg wrap while jumping, she would have been the first woman to land a quad axel. That axel jump is higher than the best male figure skater in the world’s axel jumps right now. Plenty of time for four and a half rotations. Seriously the craziest height I’ve ever seen! I will never get over it. She was so ahead of her time and training for jumps was not what it’s like today from my understanding

現在のフィギュアは『高難度を繰り出す』より、『より質の高い完成度』で競うようになってるようですね。今回の坂本花織選手の演技の解説を聞いていて分かりました。トリプルアクセルを成功させて、更に流れの良いスケーティングもなければ高得点は付かないので、この動画の伊藤みどりさんがいかに凄いか分かりますね😊✨✨

Is it me or were 3As much bigger in the 90s than they are today? And I’m not just talking about women. Even men’s axels don’t seem to catch the height they once did. I just watched a Todd Eldredge program and man, his 3As were magnificent.
