@karina_na_more: Posture is not about “standing up straight.” It is about how the body organizes itself around its central axis. The shoulder blades play a key role in this system. They are not fixed bones, but mobile structures that glide over the rib cage and depend on the balance between the thoracic spine, shoulders, neck, and upper back. When stiffness builds up between the shoulder blades, mobility is lost. The upper back becomes rigid, the ribs stop expanding fully, and the body begins to compensate. Tight shoulders and overactive trapezius muscles pull the shoulder girdle upward and forward. The head shifts out of neutral alignment, the cervical spine takes on extra load, and the body’s vertical axis is disrupted. What we often call “poor posture” is not weakness, but a chronic redistribution of tension. Stiffness in the upper back directly affects the body’s axis. When the thoracic spine loses its ability to extend and rotate, the natural line from the head through the rib cage to the pelvis breaks. The body adapts by shortening the neck, elevating the shoulders, and locking the arms into a protective pattern. This is why focusing on appearance alone never changes posture. Posture changes when excess tension leaves the body. When the shoulder blades regain mobility, the arms naturally lengthen and lift. When neck tension decreases, the head returns to a balanced position over the spine. When the upper back opens, the chest expands without effort, breathing becomes deeper, and the body reorganizes itself around its true vertical axis.
