This is a book that showed my blind spots because I didn’t clock the lack of descriptive language around the Black characters (there’s also a scene where they’re eating that was also pointed out to me is problematic) so I have definitely become more aware of that, especially following it with reading A Song of Legends Lost. But I did enjoy the story overall. So I am hoping she gets better both in prose and in how she writes Black characters.
