@andreagracedet: Archived the post for my ~mental health~ but we tried sleep training to make the transition from bassinet to crib and it worked! Any advice for keeping it long term? I heard they can still regress #babysleep #sleeptraining #newmom #firsttimemom

we teach babies everything, how to walk, how to eat, how to speak, but people get up in arms about sleep and potty training…

Cry it out isn’t the only sleep training method and I think people forget that

I did gentle sleep training and my baby was crying intensely constantly. Switched to cry it out and left his room, he fell asleep in minutes and only cried for one or two and it was intermittent. Cry it out method saved my sanity.

i have never followed any “sleep training” method. As soon as my sons umbilical cord fell off we did baths every single night. We started a night routine immediately and he’s been sleeping 10-12 hours since 7 weeks old. All approved by his dr 🥰

We sleep trained at 4 months and he’s now 2 and still sleeps 12 hours every night 💙 (and to any Karen’s that read this, he is ASLEEP, he is not “sitting alone”) he is so calm and regulated because he GETS ENOUGH SLEEP

IMO sleep training is just part of being a parent.

everyone I've ever met who sleep trained said both parents AND baby started getting more sleep and were happier as a result

She may regress (most do and it’s normal), but the key is to not develop any sleep associations such as rocking or feeding to sleep. Put them down awake, and if she wakes up in the middle of the night she will be able to put herself back to sleep! ❤️

the research that goes against sleep training was based on information from a children’s orphanage where the children were frequently abused and neglected so with that in mind, of course their “long term affects” are skewed drastically. modern research has proven that sleep training in a loving, caring home helps with anxious attachment and allows for a strong parent/child relationship!! your babies will do great!!!

As someone with a toddler that has slept through the night since 4 months old and a current 4 month old that sleeps through the night, can confirm she will be okay.

both my babies moved to their cribs in their own rooms at 3mo, and did great. sleep training saved us! a well rested family functions so much better than a tired, irritated one!

I did Ferber method when my oldest was 6 months old because she was asking up every hour. She's thriving. She never cried longer than a couple minutes without being soothed. As a toddler who still wakes up sometimes, she knows I'll always come get her if she needs me

Here’s a text from my MIL that she sent while watching our 3 year old while we were in the hospital having our second… none of the other grandkids are sleep trained. I think that speaks for itself lol

We moved my first into her crib in her room at 4 weeks. We hardly had to sleep train, she slept so much better in her dark and quiet room. She's the happiest little 2 year old who still sleeps great and transitioned into a big girl bed very easily!
