My daughter was born premature and on a heart and apnea monitor for the first 9 months of her life. My pit bull would alert when she stopped breathing or when her heart would stop before the monitor would even go off. as a nurse I will tell you that I trusted my dog more than I ever trusted the very medical equipment that was supposed to save her life!
