Color Grade with Me - Part 17 ✨ Ok sooo… how do you make a clean digital image feel more like an old scanned photograph? 👀 Because honestly, it’s not just “add grain and call it film” haha ✨ First of all: COLOR Old film scans and printed photos rarely stay perfectly neutral forever. Over time they pick up all kinds of weird color shifts, which is honestly one of the reasons old images have so much character. So for this edit, I pushed most of the image into that muted green palette instead of keeping everything clean and gray 🩶💚 I wanted it to feel like an old fashion scan that aged a little weirdly… but in a good way lol 😌 ✨ Second thing: TEXTURE A perfectly clean image always feels a little too digital to me 😅 So I added grain, dust, scratches, and paper texture to make it feel more like an actual photo that got scanned at some point. ✨ Third thing: IMPERFECTIONS Let’s be honest… old photos were rarely perfect 😅 For this edit, I didn’t want to blur the image, so instead I added subtle chromatic aberration around the model. Fun fact… chromatic aberration actually comes from the lens, not the film 👀 Older lenses were way more prone to stuff like this, which is one of the reasons it helps create a more analog feel. So yeah… I basically spent way too much time adding grain, scratches, paper texture, chromatic aberration, and all those tiny little details 😅 Which probably sounds ridiculous, but that’s honestly the stuff that makes the biggest difference to me.
