He'd run a marathon 4 weeks earlier with zero issues. Race Day 🏁 Jeff was taking WAY too long. Cell service was terrible. Jeremy finally got one text through via satellite. Jeff's response: "I'm at the hospital. Not a joke. AFib." What Happened? 🚨 AFib causes blood to pool → clots can form → travel to lungs or brain! Plus rapid heart rate overworks the heart. In Ambulance/Hospital 🚑 Tried medications + cardioversion (shocking heart back to rhythm). Eventually got him back to normal rhythm at hospital. But then: Checked troponin levels (enzyme released when heart muscle is stressed/damaged—classic heart attack marker). Jeff's troponin was ELEVATED. 😰 Part 3: What the elevated troponin meant! Prayers for your brother! As an OCR racer, I appreciate the rant 😂 however, I strongly feel all obstacle course races should have a completion band like savage races. After all, it’s OBSTACLE course racing - not burpee racing. Okay, rant over.
