@anders_erickson: THE NA BLACK TEA OLD FASHIONED - 2.5 oz (75 ml) Tea base* - 1/2 oz (15 ml) rich Demerara syrup (2:1 sugar:water) - 1 swath orange peel - Expressed orange oil, peel, and cocktail cherry for garnish Add all ingredients, regal stir over ice for 10-15 seconds (do not over dilute this!). Strain over ice. top with additional orange oil and garnish. *OLD FASHIONED TEA BASE Phase 1: - 2 cups (480 g) water - 10 whole cloves - 4 allspice berries (cracked) - 1 cinnamon stick - 1 tsp cocoa nibs - 1/2 vanilla bean (cut & scraped) - 1/8 tsp red chili flakes Phase 2: - 2 tea bags English Breakfast black tea - 2 tsp Lapsang Souchong black tea - 2 swaths orange peel - Pinch of salt - In a small pot, bring water to a boil. Reduce heat to low and add all Phase 1 ingredients. Simmer covered for 10 minutes. Turn off heat, add Phase 2 ingredients, cover, and steep for 5 minutes. Strain and allow to cool. I’m confused at the people saying too much work… there’s no more expended effort here than making any flavored syrup for any cocktail. It’s not hard it just requires a modicum of patience.

I would definitely try something like it but I feel like the base needs something like wood chips to give it that tannic bite you get from whiskey and you prob could use some bitter herb in the base like gentian or wormwood.

I would honestly use a THC drink as an alcohol substitute. They are growing so plentiful and some of them are actually great. If you're going for zero intoxication, then I would absolutely use your recipe.
