Nobody talks about how exhausting this is. Learning to self regulate has been the hardest thing…

Yes but i just go quiet I won’t ask because asking always made it 10 times worse i just say there don’t make a sound don’t move don’t breathe wrong don’t tick them off be invisible

Yes to the explanation but there is a line where this becomes OCD-type behavior. This checking compulsion becomes a NEED, and the partner providing reassurance just fuels the compulsion. Obviously this takes therapy and a lot of self-work but needless to say providing reassurance to “are you mad at me” 50 times a day is not typically going to help long term.

I came from a psychologically abusive marriage. 18 years worth of “are you mad at me” 50x a day. My new man? I never have to ask because he doesn’t give me a reason to.

grew up in a house full of anger and yelling.. so i am constantly worried that people are mad or just overthinking everything. it's so annoying but i can't stop it... my bf understands and is very gentle when he talks to me but he lives 2 hours away so it's rough sometimes 🥹

this is so real but i am always too much because of it. it’s trauma from the household i grew up in, my biological dad was horrible. it was awful and i just wish people would take the time to actually understand this.. 💔

My husband has learned over the years of us dating that if im asking if he loves me still? or are you mad at me? if hes happy with me? that i just need to hear that he does love me, he not mad and he will always be happy with me because he knows that I came from a home where my mom was at work most of the day. my step-dad was an awful man who loved to use the authority he thought he had over us to abuse us. it isn't because I think he doesnt love me its because whenever I asked for love it was always pushed aside. now im not angry with my mom because she was never made aware of what was happening while she was away, now that she does she wishes she had been there to stop it from happening in the first place. she always apologizes to all of her kids now because we all left the first chance we had and it wasn't because of her. it was to get away from our stepfathers abuse. my husband wont even let me go somewhere if he knows my step-dad will be there or he'll go with me because he knows I dont want to be anywhere near him. my mom has two kids with him so he still gets to see them. but its rare
