@pigsandplans: Sneaker Pimps' breakout hit “6 Underground” is one of the most iconic trip-hop tracks of the 90s, even though its lead vocalist joined the band after the song was written and left before the release of their follow-up album. The song was written by founders Chris Corner and Liam Howe, originally with Corner on lead vocals. When the band was preparing to release their debut album ‘Becoming X,’ they decided to bring in a female vocalist, Kelli Dayton. Dayton quickly became the group’s lead singer, and her vocal performance on “6 Underground” cemented the track as the band’s signature hit. As the album took off, Sneaker Pimps were thrown into the spotlight, opening for artists like Blur and Neneh Cherry, and even collaborating with Marilyn Manson. The pace proved unsustainable, and tensions grew between Dayton and the rest of the band, leading to her leaving the group in 1998. Sneaker Pimps continued without Dayton and released two more albums before they quietly dissolved in the 2000s. __ #pigeonsandplanes #sneakerpimps #triphop #6underground #90smusic
