I’ve lived in Bondi my entire life and we’ve always called it Neilson Park/Beach - never heard of it called Shark Beach until now. He was jumping off a place known as Jump Rock. Kids/Teen have been jumping off this forever, I’ve done it myself plenty of times & I have never heard of anyone seeing sharks while doing it. This tragedy was a combination of the heavy rain runoff bringing the sharks closer to shore & just unbelievably bad luck/timing - this was not due to negligence by the kids or their parents. As for those saying don’t go in the water - we live on the coast, it’s our backyard! We have respect for the ocean and understand the dangers & risks. This was just an unfortunate & rare incident.
