I make sure my clients don't have a nut allergy on the off chance I brought some to eat before a massage. Just in case.

Thank you for speaking on this! But these symptoms and anaphylaxis can happen with ANY food. People can have severe food allergies to ANYTHING. I know you didn’t say or imply this but many people believe that peanut allergy is the most severe food allergy—that is a dangerous myth. This is why it’s understanding best practices for food allergens period is more impactful than avoidance, like cleaning surfaces with soap and water (or bleach or wet ones wipes), washing hands with soap and water or wet ones wipes after eating anything in public where chance of contact by others is higher (sanitizer does not denature proteins that cause allergens), and keeping areas food free when possible or with guidelines for cleaning hands afterwards in place. For example, my kiddo has 7 food allergies (if you count tree nuts as only 1😩) and even though peanut is one of their allergens, the mitigation you described for your environment still would not create a safe environment for them. Of course people with food allergies are responsible for managing this on their own. I just wanted to provide some nuance and inclusivity, most people simply don’t realize. We didn’t! I really appreciate that youre willing to learn, make changes for people w/ food allergies and make changes for their safety, and to use your platform to educate others🫶🏽
